SUMMARY:Back of The Yards New Student Open House
DESCRIPTION:Attending an open house is REQUIRED in order to enroll your child in The People’s Music School for the 2026-27 school year. No registration is required to attend this open house. You can simply walk in the day of the open house. \nThe People’s Music School offers high quality\, after-school tuition-free music education to school aged children in Chicago who would otherwise would face financial barriers to access. Based on a student’s age\, we offer classes in general music\, instrumental studies\, music theory\, and a variety of ensembles. The People’s Music School calendar runs from September to June. \nStudents enrolled in our program will: \n\nAttend after school classes 2 days a week for up to 4 hours. \nParticipate in performances throughout the school year\nTake part in engaging masterclasses with guest artists\nGain skills through participating in our intensive music program that will benefit them throughout their life

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to be performing as part of Chicago’s 2026 Blues Fest! We’ll be performing at Wrigley Square from 3-3:45pm as part of the Next Generation of Blues lineup. Stop by to hear some of our advanced music students perform beloved blues and jazz pieces! \nThe nation’s largest free blues fest returns this year with a citywide lineup honoring Chicago’s blues legacy\, while highlighting established musicians and the next generation of blues performers. The festival begins Thursday\, June 4\, at Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport with an opening night program\, followed by three days of performances June 5–7 at Millennium Park. All performances in Millennium Park are free and open to the public. \nEntrance Map \nWe are excited to be performing as part of the Next Generation of Blues lineup\, featuring young musicians from Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts\, Chicago West Community Music Center\, Curie Metro High School\, Kenwood Academy High School\, Meaza Joy\, and VanderCook College of Music. \nThe People’s Music School\, a 501(c) (3)\, is Chicago’s oldest and largest 100% tuition-free music school. Our mission is to deliver access to the benefits of high-quality\, tuition-free music education. Through intensive instruction and performance\, our students achieve excellence in music that transfers to other areas in life. We believe in the transformative power of music to uplift youth\, families\, and entire communities. \nThe Associate Board\, a group of young professionals who support our mission through advocacy\, volunteering\, and fundraising\, is hosting its annual signature event on July 11 from 3:30-6:30pm at Movement on Montrose. Guests will enjoy food\, drinks\, live music\, games\, and prize drawings—all in support of tuition-free music education for low-income students across Chicago.
