2015-2016 Uptown Academy Registration Dates Announced!

Have you been anxiously awaiting the day that your child can become a student of The People’s Music School? Well, mark your calendars! Registration events for the Uptown Academy 2015-2016 school year have been announced:

Thursday, August 13th, 6pm: Open House for Prospective Students and Families

Wednesday, August 19th – Friday, August 21st, 12pm–7pm: Registration for Prospective Students

Friday, August 21st, 7pm: Lottery Drawing for New Students (closed to the public)

All registration events will take place at our School (931 West Eastwood Avenue).

At our Open House on August 13th, you will be able to learn about how our program works, tour the building, meet our staff, and ask questions. We accept children ages 5 -18 who are in grades K – 12. Once accepted for enrollment at the Uptown Academy children are grouped by age (5-7 year olds, 8-12 year olds, and 13-17 year olds) for the classes they attend. Slots available at each age range vary from year to year, and we select our students through a lottery drawing. A waiting list of 10 names will be drawn for each age group with slots available for enrollment. The lottery drawing is closed to the public, but it will be made available for viewing on the TPMS Facebook page.

The Uptown Academy provides sequential music education to youth between the ages of 5 and 18. Children learn the instrument of their choice through individualized and group instruction. A unique component of our school’s program is the requirement that students take and progress through theory classes. This initiative is the backbone of our curriculum, and provides a solid foundation for not only learning an individual instrument, but also to gain a broader understanding of the principals of music.
