What is a DAF?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably-inclined individual, families and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock and in some case, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.

Maximize your tax benefits with a donation to The People's Music School!
The People’s Music School accepts contributions via DAF’s, IRA QCD, and stocks, as well as cash. Non-cash gifts like stock, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), or gifts from a Donor-Advised Fund — may offer additional savings while maximizing your charitable impact.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs):
The Internal Revenue Service has enabled IRA owners age 70½ or over to transfer up to $105,000 to charity tax-free each year. These transfers, known as qualified charitable distributions or QCDs, offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give to charity before the end of the year. And, for those who are at least 73 years old, QCDs count toward the IRA owner’s required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. An IRA distribution made directly to a qualified charity is tax-exempt for the donor. Please consider this when making your year-end giving plans!

First Movement
The People’s Music School is Chicago’s largest 100% tuition-free music school, providing access to the transformative benefits of music education for hundreds of students each year who would otherwise face financial barriers to that access. We are embarking on an exciting plan to grow both our enrollment and the quality of our student outcomes.
To support this ambitious vision, we are embarking on First Movement, the organization’s first dedicated campaign to grow leadership in major gifts. First Movement will build a foundation of growth for years to come and a community of like-minded leaders.
