Dear TPMS Community,
Fall has officially arrived, classes have begun and on behalf of the Board of Directors of The People’s Music School (TPMS), I have some exciting news to share! Effective November 1, 2021, longtime Chicago nonprofit executive K. Sujata will be joining People’s as our Interim President. Sujata brings over 20 years of philanthropic strategy and organizational development experience to TPMS. She has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Foundation for Women and is completing her role as the Interim Executive Director for Kartemquin Films. We are pleased to have someone of Sujata’s caliber lead our talented staff through this transition period.
A national search for our permanent President is already underway and is being led by Montague & Associates. Our thorough and deliberate approach to this search will be critical to identifying a dynamic individual who can build upon the impressive legacy of Jennifer Kim-Matsuzawa, who during her seven-year tenure maintained an unwavering commitment to transforming lives through musical excellence while expanding our presence throughout Chicago and beyond.
We expect Sujata’s guidance and expertise to be an instrumental part of facilitating a successful leadership transition and continuing to deliver on our mission of providing access to the benefits of high-quality, tuition-free music education.
Please join us in welcoming Sujata to The People’s Music School community!
Michael Buck
